Who is responsible

Binetic (Pty) Ltd (2021/878808/07), 6 Eastfort Park Street, Lynnwood, Pretoria, 0081, operates Aloom. The Information Officer is Dewaldt Wickus van der Merwe (informationofficer@aloom.co.za). His registration with the South African Information Regulator must still be completed before public availability.

Aloom operates the platform, authentication, hosting, security, essential diagnostics, optional product analytics and data-rights workflows. Each alumni organisation determines eligibility, publishes community content and performs primary moderation.

Information and purposes

We process account/contact identity, profiles and membership evidence, community content, groups, reactions and RSVPs, device/push metadata, safety reports, audit records and data requests to provide the service, verify membership, prevent abuse and handle rights requests.

Essential operational and security records are minimised. Optional product analytics begins only after active consent and excludes content bodies, email addresses and phone numbers.

Recipients and transfers

Access is limited to relevant community administrators, authorised Binetic platform operators and providers supporting hosting, database, email, error monitoring and push delivery. International processing may occur where providers operate infrastructure; appropriate contractual and technical safeguards are used.

Retention

Export files expire after 7 days; rejected applications are normally kept for 90 days; optional analytics and security/audit records for 12 months; moderation evidence for up to 24 months where justified. Deletion requests have a 30-day cancellation period. Active legal, safety or data-request holds can temporarily defer relevant erasure.

Your rights and security

You may request access, correction, export, objection or deletion. We use tenant isolation, row-level security, role-based access, private media, short-lived links and auditing. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Age and changes

The Aloom pilot is only for people aged 18 and older. Material policy changes receive a new version and require renewed acknowledgement.
